The Final Call: Withdraw from the Elections

Those who follow me, the brothers, ask: What should the Islamic movements in Egypt do now?

The answer is very simple: They should withdraw immediately from this electoral farce. The Brotherhood should withdraw their candidate, and they, along with the Salafis, should announce to the people that they were wrong in their behavior towards the parliament, in their statements and steps related to the implementation of Sharia, in involving secularists in writing the constitution, and in letting down those who called for the implementation of Sharia first, and being stingy with sacrifices for that cause.

They should announce this openly and repent to Allah, then go down to the squares with a pure and clear call: that "no to the rule of the military," and a call for the rule of Sharia. If the Brotherhood, the Salafis, and those who support them agree on this, by Allah, a great matter will happen.

I say this knowing that it may not reach any of the Brotherhood leaders busy supporting Morsi, or any of the Salafi leaders who are now striving to convince people that not voting for Morsi is forbidden by Sharia. Nevertheless, I say it so that their followers can hear it: "Seek forgiveness from your Lord, perhaps they may fear Him."

I say this because some Muslims have begun to have bad thoughts about their Lord, as if they obeyed Allah and He let them down, and as if they submitted to Him and He ruined them. Allah is far above that.

Warning Against Having Bad Thoughts About Allah and Self-Criticism

So I say to them: Beware of being like those about whom Allah said: {They think of Allah other than the truth, the thought of ignorance}, and He said to them: {And you thought an evil thought and you were a people who were wicked}. You did not obey Allah so that He would fulfill His promise to you. We used to say to you: Allah said and His Messenger said, but you would say: "But reason says, and logic says, and interest requires." And now you bear the consequence, the consequence of Allah's warning to us when He said: {So let those who oppose his command beware lest a trial strike them or a painful punishment}.

So let us have bad thoughts about ourselves, we, the Islamists, who Allah has given us an irreplaceable opportunity, a chance to turn the scales of causes and powers, but most of us are more attached to the forbidden causes than ever before, and make concessions that were not made in the time of weakness. Let them do that, for there are even secularists, leftists, and liberals who now call on the Islamists to take this honorable position, even though these groups could have fished in the muddy water and incited the people against the Islamists.

I say these words because some criticize me, saying: Why do you criticize the parliamentary Islamists? Why do you criticize them publicly? Isn't their enemy enough? Isn't it negative to point out their mistakes without giving them alternatives? Well, here is the only alternative in my opinion: Withdraw from this farce in which you are losing your religion and popularity, and in which you are giving legitimacy to your enemy, and return to the call and bear its consequences.

Return to the call to purify people's beliefs and ideas from doubts and distortions that you have sown in people's minds by trivializing the image of Sharia to people, by trivializing the image of Sharia and misusing the jurisprudence of interests and harms, and by innovating in the jurisprudence of concessions.

The Danger of Staying in the Elections and Their Future

The problem is that some see only two destinies with no third: either Shafik wins and what follows is a war on the religion of Allah, the callers, the corruption of the country and the people, or Dr. Muhammad Morsi wins and what follows is the removal of some of these evils. And this view is that there is no choice but this choice or that choice, and that there is no savior from the bad situation except the election of Morsi, this is from heedlessness and turning a blind eye to reality.

For the fate of the elections if the Islamists continue in them is bad, indeed very bad in any case. For Muhammad Morsi will not be a capable president who can save any injustice or tyranny from the military machine ever, but as long as the rule of the military is in place regardless of the president, the future is bleak, and the possibility of change from the presidency is not weak but non-existent.

But the only solution that is indispensable and has no alternative is to withdraw from this farce and repent to Allah for entering it in the first place, so that the Islamists may gain the companionship of Allah which they lost when they became attached to democratic causes and entered the path of democracy. But if they insist on continuing on this black path that has only brought them the destruction of the house in the manner of "blame me for what was the disease," the near future will be difficult regardless of the results of this electoral farce.

Warning Against Giving Legitimacy to the Enemy

O Islamists, withdraw immediately, withdraw before Shafik wins by fraud or without fraud, for then you will be the ones who gave him legitimacy by accepting to refer to the boxes that produced him, at the time when secular and leftist parties reject his legitimacy. And then you will silence your mouths and will not even be able to denounce his blasphemies, and you will not be able to rally the people against him because he came to power by a way that you have given legitimacy to.

And as long as you have repeatedly declared your acceptance of the principle of the sovereignty of the people in all authorities, you have given Shafik the justification to remove the religion of Allah, for as a president elected by the people, he represents the sovereignty of the people. And if you try to oppose him in anything, you will be outside the law and the constitution that you swore in parliament to respect, and you will be outside the legitimate president who came by a mechanism that you agreed to refer to, and you will be criminals according to the law.

So fear Allah and withdraw, for this speech we can say and you can hear it today before the legitimate president comes so that we do not say it and you do not hear it.

The Words of Sheikh Muhammad Qutb (may Allah have mercy on him)

And I conclude with the words of Sheikh Muhammad Qutb, may Allah preserve him, from his book "Our Contemporary Reality," may Allah preserve him, and listen to the beauty, wisdom, and precision of what he said: "The Islamic groups entering the political organizations of the enemies of Islam, meaning like parliaments and presidential institutions, are the losers in the diplomatic game, and the enemies are the winners, whether by cleaning their reputation before the masses by cooperating with the Islamic groups or their alliance with them who want this world alone and compete and scramble for the goods of the earth and do not know in their politics the Islamic morals and the Islamic meanings, let alone calling for the pagan slogans and turning away from the rule of the Sharia of Allah.

And it has never happened once in the game of diplomacy that the weak were able to steer the course of events from within the political organizations that their enemies run. And what happened of partial, incidental reforms in some aspects of life by the hands of the Islamists, the ignorance cannot bear it and cannot stand it, and soon it erases it and nullifies its effects, and the bad effects that the dilution of the issue creates remain, the issue of Sharia, the issue of the rule of the religion of Allah, and its evil is much greater than the partial benefit that is achieved by this participation."

Look at the last sentence, may Allah preserve him: "And the bad effects that it creates by diluting the issue remain, and its evil is much greater than the partial benefit that is achieved by this participation." End of his words, may Allah preserve him.

O Allah, have I conveyed? O Allah, bear witness. O Allah, plan for the people of Egypt, for they do not know how to plan. O Allah, guide us and guide the misguided Muslims, and guide the Islamic groups to what You love and are pleased with, O Lord of the worlds. And the last of our supplications is that all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
