A Good Looking Female Employee
Peace be upon you
Job vacancy for a good-looking female
This is a common phrase
that simply means:
A female is required so we can trade
her femininity and beauty for profit
We need a female to
market our merchandise
A female whose religion,
mind and morals are irrelevant
Her outward appearance and
exterior are what's important
This is what is known as:
Women Objectification
i.e. treating women as commodities
not as human beings
We discussed this subject in the episode
"Liberation of the Western Woman"
and explained how Western women
suffer from it,
feel shame and insignificance,
and suffer from mental illnesses
due to its prevalence
in their societies
It is a step towards
Sexual Objectification
Islam ordained Hijab (Islamic attire)
to send a message:
"Dear brothers
I am your sister in faith
I cooperate with you
in righteousness and piety
What concerns you is my religion and
morals, not my beauty and femininity;
these I reserve for my husband."
Hijab carries another message to
those with perverted hearts:
"Do not lust after me!
I'm too dignified and noble for your
frivolity and sexual objectification."
What prompted me to share this message
are two messages I received
The first was a post
from sister Alaa El-Shafei
who said,
"I read a job posting for a position
with 6,000 EGP starting salary.
It listed specific job requirements.
I got in touch with them and
requested more details.
Surprisingly, all the advertised
job requirements were secondary!
They started sending me the primary job
requirements, which were as follows:
- The position is for Administrative
Assistant to a certain male manager.
- A primary requirement is to
remove the Hijab.
- The dress code is a mini-skirt
and a revealing shirt."
This is one of hundreds of situations
—that women are subjected to
on a daily basis—
of harassment in the job market
under the logan:
Job vacancy for a good-looking female!
Recently
Prof. Muhammad 'Aqlah Al-Ibrahim
announced that he received
several phone calls
from women who were
subjected to moral blackmail
from managers at different institutions!
The second message I received
was a tweet by the United Nations
—the Arabic account—
saying,
"It is time to stop trying
to change women
and start changing the systems
which prevent them
from achieving their potential."
As if the tweet is saying:
"It is time to take the gloves off
and force the Muslim woman to go through
what the Western woman has gone through.
It is time to force her and her community
using the power of law!"
That is what we addressed in detail
in the episode
"Rambo Saves a Muslim Woman"
To all advocates of women's rights:
If you truly appreciate women
and your primary concern is
defending them and their rights
then such job postings
should deeply offend you
and you must fight them!
You must say to those employers,
"Why does her beauty concern you?
You shameless man!
The woman is not a commodity for trade
She is an honored human being
—honored by her Lord—
not a commodity for sale!"
May Allah help us,
and peace be upon you all
