This is a message to my Muslim brothers in the West regarding dealing with the non-Muslims who stood up with them and consoled them after the events of the two mosques in New Zealand Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He who does not thank people, does not thank Allah." There were many noble and moving acts of kindness done by non-Muslims these past days! These acts should be respected, admired, and fortified. Most importantly they should be rewarded. We saw some of them standing at the gates of the mosques guarding them. Some others standing up in respect for the adhan (call of prayer), and others carrying banners of support to the Muslims, and another egging the head of an islamophobe, and others raising funds for the families of the victims. Through these events, Allah reveals the real essence of people; so we could realize the goodness, the nobility and the compassion of some non-Muslims. Allah reveals this real essence to us, not so we could just watch it in admiration, but so we could make use of it and address it. The best reward for those who have stood with you in this noble stance is to call them to Islam. My brothers, this is a great opportunity that we should not miss. We are generally falling short in calling others to Islam, so now is a great opportunity to make up for our shortcomings and to draw closer to Allah by inviting these people to Islam. The feelings of gratitude to the non-Muslims standing with us at this very moment are so intense, and inviting people to Islam requires this kind of positive energy! No one should be ahead of us when it comes to mercy and nobility! Allah says: “You were the best nation that has ever been brought forth for the good of mankind...” The ummah of Muhammad must be the best in all things; and in these feelings too! We were brought for the good of mankind, and for their salvation in this life and the hereafter. He who wants our welfare, we want his welfare even more! He who cares for us, we care for him even more. He who defends us, we defend him more ! He who fears for us, we fear for him more! We fear for them the misery of the worldly life and the Hereafter, and we are keen on their happiness in this life and the Hereafter. We must therefore take advantage of this great opportunity to invite them to the light that Allah has guided us to. Whoever stands by you, tell him: "I am grateful to you, and I would like to express my gratitude to you by sharing with you my most precious possession; it is this religion which I believe is the cause of happiness in this life and the Hereafter. If you keep seeing this person regularly, you might want to postpone calling him to Islam till you build a stronger relationship with him, so you could show him the true manners of Islam. But if you’re afraid not to see him again, then do not delay, brother, and do not hesitate to invite him. As for our brothers and sisters who were killed, we ask Allah to accept them as martyrs! Then, we seek that Allah may use us to compensate for them by adding many times more of new Muslims! This way, they will have won the martyrdom, and they will become a cause of eternal happiness for others, while we become the instrument Allah uses to achieve this final end. This is an opportunity for us! The people are ready to listen now, and their interaction proves that the world is not monopolized by the politicians and the media which vilifies Islam! The door is wide open, and all we need is seeking the aid of Allah, loving our religion so dearly and seeking to benefit these people. These hashtags are unprecedentedly trending: #Islam, #Muslims, #New_Zealand Our role now is to post some content introducing Islam, with references and websites that present Islam honestly. May Allah accept from all of us and help this in this cause. Wassalamu alikum.
