Addendum - "Good-Looking Female Employee"!!
Well-Dressed Female Employee: Objectification of Women
Peace be upon you. "A well-dressed female employee is required," this is one of the widespread phrases that simply means: a female is required to trade her femininity, we make money from her beauty, a female we use to promote our commercial products. A female whose religion, intellect, and morals do not matter to us, but rather her appearance and external shell.
This is what is called "Woman Objectification" or the commodification of women, meaning using them as a commodity, as an object for trade and not as a human. We have discussed this in the episode "Liberation of Western Women," and how Western women suffer from it, feeling shame, triviality, and mental illnesses due to its spread in their societies. It is a step towards the sexual commodification of women.
When Islam legislated the hijab, the message that the hijab carries, my brothers in faith, is: "I am your sister in Allah, I cooperate with you in righteousness and piety. What matters to you about me is my religion and morals, not my beauty and femininity, for I keep these for my husband." And this hijab carries a message to those with sick hearts: "Do not covet me, for I am more honorable and nobler than your triviality and sexual commodification."
Examples and a Call for Change
What prompted me to publish this word is two messages I received today:
The First Message: A Post by Alaa Shafei
The first message is a post by sister Alaa Shafei, in which she says: "Recently, I saw an advertisement starting with a salary of six thousand pounds, and there were certain conditions. I sent a message and asked for more details. A basic condition: removing the hijab, official dress: mini skirt and an open blouse."
This is one stance among hundreds of stances that girls face daily in the workplace under the slogan "a well-dressed female employee." Recently, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Aqil said that he received numerous calls from women who are subjected to moral blackmail by managers in departments and institutions.
The Second Message: A Tweet by the United Nations
The second message is a tweet by the Arab branch of the United Nations, published the day before yesterday, saying: "It is time to stop trying to change women and start changing the systems that prevent them from achieving their potential." As if the tweet is saying: "It is time not to be content with soft attempts to make the Muslim woman exposed to what the Western woman was exposed to, and to force her and the society to do so by the force of the law." This is the same thing we have discussed extensively in the episode "Rambo Saves a Muslim Woman."
O advocates of women's rights, if you truly value women and care about their rights and defending them, then such advertisements constitute one of the worst forms of abuse, and they should be fought, and you should tell their owners: "What do you want with a well-dressed appearance and her appearance, O you of little shame?" Woman is not a commodity to be traded, woman is a noble human being whose nobility is bestowed by her Lord, and she is not a commercial commodity. May Allah be our helper, and peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
